Reuse and Repair Fund Reopens to Support Highland Communities

The Highland Council has announced that the second round of its Reuse and Repair Fund will open on Thursday 2 April, 2026, offering grants to support community led projects across the region.

Funding of between £2,000 and £50,000 will be available to help initiatives focused on repairing, reusing and upcycling materials, with the aim of reducing waste and strengthening the circular economy.

The fund builds on the success of its first round, which supported a range of local projects from repair cafés and workshops to training opportunities that help people develop practical skills.

Among the early beneficiaries was Grantown Remakery, which received £29,350 to begin work on its project.

Pete Carson said:

“This is brilliant because it comes as another vote of confidence in us.

“The fund contribution will be a big help to developing more possibilities here.”

George Livingstone said:

“I would encourage any community group in the Highlands with an interest in waste to consider applying.

“It is certainly going to make a huge difference to us, meaning that we can accept more items for repair and extend the life of many pre-loved items.”

The council says the fund is designed to empower communities, helping them take practical steps to reduce waste while creating opportunities for learning and local engagement.

Projects supported through the scheme aim to keep everyday items in use for longer, cutting down on landfill and promoting more sustainable habits.

Applications for this round will close at 12 noon on Friday 22 May, with a further funding round expected later in the year.

With growing interest in reuse and repair initiatives, the fund offers communities across the Highlands the chance to build on local ideas and turn them into lasting projects.
