Rush fans in the Highlands are in for a rare treat as Moving Pictures, the UK’s leading tribute to the legendary Canadian rock trio, bring their R40 10th Anniversary Tour to Inverness.
The band will play An Seòmar on Sunday 28 September at 7pm, marking a special Highland stop on their 2025 international tour.
This year marks a decade since Rush played their final tour, R40 a retrospective that celebrated their entire back catalogue.
To honour that milestone, Moving Pictures will perform an almost identical R40 setlist, spanning the band’s early prog epics, synth-era anthems, and hard-rock powerhouses.
Known for their note-perfect performances and obsessive attention to detail, Moving Pictures are often called the closest thing to seeing Rush live.
“If you missed seeing Rush, Moving Pictures is as close as you’ll ever get to the real thing,” wrote Moshville Times.
Led by guitarist Steve Brown, the band has become a cult favourite among Rush fans across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Brown’s musical journey began in Stirling’s punk scene with Political Asylum and grew into a decades-long love affair with progressive rock.
In 2013, after the loss of close friend Angie Townsend to cancer, Brown founded RUSHfest Scotland, a tribute festival that has since raised over £136,000 for cancer charities.
Now, Moving Pictures is his full-time project and it’s taken him from pub stages to global acclaim.
The current lineup features Eóin de Paor on vocals, bass, keyboards, and violin, and Jamie Dunleavey, who joined in 2022 and has since become a fan favourite for her explosive drumming.
Together, the trio have delivered unforgettable shows, including:
- A special concert at Lakeside Park, Canada for Neil Peart’s family
- A headline set at RUSHfest Brazil
- A sell-out show at Eden Court, Inverness in 2024
- And live performances with Clockwork Angels string players, including Jonathan Dinklage
Now, they return to Inverness for a one-night-only show at the city’s newest live music venue, An Seòmar.
Expect three hours of virtuosic playing, deep cuts and classics, and a crowd united by love for one of rock’s greatest bands.
With the intimacy of the venue and the significance of the R40 milestone, it promises to be a night of musical time travel fans won’t soon forget.
