New paper on Scottish Independence welcomed by Highlands & Islands MSP.

Emma Roddick MSP for the Highlands & Islands has welcomed the third paper in the Scottish Government’s ‘Building a New Scotland’ series.

The paper, which was released today (17.10.22)sets out the economic case for independence, with a focussed ambition on improving lives, wellbeing and future prospects for the people of Scotland.

Ms Roddick stated that the paper sets out a clear case for why independence is now essential for Scotland’s future.

Commenting Ms Roddick said:

“Scotland can no longer afford to remain in the union.

“It’s time for independence.”

“This paper brings hope at a time where we need it the most.

“Right now, so many individuals, families, businesses, and organisations across the Highlands & Islands are facing very real hardship at the hands of another round of Tory austerity cuts.

“There isn’t a day that goes by where myself and my team are not working to try and alleviate some of the pressures facing constituents in this current climate.

“We know that Scotland can do so much better and this paper sets that our clearly.

“We’ve got the assets, talents, and resources to develop a strong, greener, fairer, more open, and more dynamic economy as an independent country.

“With better, more stable governance, we can build an economy that works for everyone across the Highlands & Islands and the rest of Scotland.”
