Scotland’s international offices are driving billions of pounds in investment, export sales and job creation, according to new figures published by the Scottish Government.

The Scotland’s International Strategy Annual Report 2024 to 2025 highlights the economic impact of the country’s overseas network, showing the scale of trade, tourism and investment activity supported around the world.

The report shows Scotland’s international offices helped secure more than £2bn in international sales of Scottish goods and services.

It also records £1.9bn in planned capital investment, alongside more than £1bn in forecast international sales linked to ongoing work.

A total of 135 foreign direct investment projects were supported, helping to create or sustain around 16,700 jobs across Scotland.

Tourism promotion also delivered a significant boost, with VisitScotland campaigns generating a net economic impact of more than £73m.

The SNP says the figures underline the value of showcasing Scotland internationally and supporting businesses to grow beyond domestic markets.

Commenting on the report, SNP MSP Stuart McMillan said Scottish businesses were seeing tangible benefits.

“Scottish businesses and Scotland’s economy are reaping the benefits of the SNP Government’s international offices.

“This Christmas, families across the world are gifting products made in Scotland, driving billions in sales and supporting thousands of jobs.

“In so many cases, that has been driven and supported by our network of international offices.

“The Tories and Labour are all too keen to talk Scotland and our global businesses down, criticising the billions of investment driven by our international offices.

“The opposition parties simply cannot stand the thought of Scotland making our own mark on the world stage.

“Our international offices are a massive success story.

“Yet we know that nothing would mark Scotland’s place in the world more than joining the world as an independent country.”
