Football fans heading to Hampden Park this Sunday are being encouraged to take the train, as ScotRail adds extra services for Scotland’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Belarus.
Following a thrilling 3–1 win over Greece, the men’s national team is one step closer to the World Cup and a packed, party atmosphere is expected once again when the match kicks off at 5pm on 12 October.
To help supporters travel safely and smoothly, ScotRail is running additional trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida, the nearest station to Hampden with longer trains to boost capacity.
Mount Florida station is just a five-minute walk from the national stadium, and queuing systems will be in place before and after the match to manage the expected crowds.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail’s Customer Operations Director, urged fans to plan ahead and enjoy the experience.
“After a great result against Greece, we’re excited to welcome fans travelling to Hampden Park for Scotland’s crucial World Cup Qualifier against Belarus,” he said.
“To help supporters get to the match smoothly, we’ll be running extra services and adding more seats to trains to and from Mount Florida station, which is just a short walk from the stadium.
“Travelling with ScotRail is a convenient, reliable, and sustainable way to get to the game.
“To ensure an effortless experience, we’re encouraging fans to plan their journey, allow a bit of extra time, and buy return tickets in advance.”
Supporters are advised to travel early to avoid last-minute crowds and to head back to Mount Florida station promptly after the final whistle.
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the ScotRail app, website, ticket offices, or self-service machines.
With Scotland riding high in their campaign, all eyes will be on Hampden and ScotRail is ready to get fans there in time for every moment.
