MSP for the Highlands and Islands Emma Roddick says the draft Scottish Budget, “reaffirms” the SNP’s commitment to delivering for Scotland.
The budget includes significant investment, including £768 million for affordable homes, £112 million for the continued dualling of the A9, and the announcement that the Scottish Government will scrap the two-child cap.
Commenting on the budget, Ms Roddick said:
“Time and time again, we have watched the UK Government deliver budgets that fail to address the needs of the people of Scotland.
“The budget delivered by the Finance Secretary earlier this month demonstrates the importance of making decisions here in Scotland for the benefit of Scotland.
“With £768 million allocated to invest in affordable housing – an urgent need in our region – £112 million to continue the dualling of the A9, and the commitment to scrap the two-child cap, which will lift an estimated 15,000 children out of poverty, it is clear the SNP will always put Scotland first.
“These decisions have been made using the limited fiscal powers of the Scottish Government, showing that it is possible to do better – but we could do even more with independence.”
