The Scottish Greens have called on the Prime Minister to expel the Israeli ambassador and end all UK arms sales and political support for what they describe as Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza.
The demand comes from the party’s co-leader, Lorna Slater, as Keir Starmer faces mounting pressure over his government’s stance on the crisis.
Her comments follow reports that Israel is planning to intensify its military occupation of Gaza, despite growing international condemnation.
Lorna Slater accused the UK Government of being more than a bystander, claiming it has played an active role through continued military and political support for Israel.
“The Prime Minister and his colleagues have chosen to arm and support Israeli forces and have ignored the daily and systemic atrocities inflicted on Palestinians,” she said.
She pointed to the destruction of homes, the deaths of children and the devastation of communities, saying that these realities make it clear the UK has done “nowhere near enough” to stand against the assault.
“Urging restraint is not enough,” she added.
“The hypocrisy must end.
“The arms sales must stop and so must the military collaboration and political support that has gone with them.”
The Scottish Greens want the UK Government to support sanctions against Israeli forces and to expel the Israeli ambassador, whom they accuse of serving as a “mouthpiece for genocide.”
“This has been a disgraceful chapter in UK foreign policy,” Slater said.
“It has made the Prime Minister and his colleagues complicit in some of the worst war crimes of this century.”
Her remarks echo a growing chorus of voices urging Westminster to take stronger measures, with campaigners insisting that words of concern must be matched by concrete action.
