The acclaimed crime drama Shetland is back this November, with a new series that pulls detectives Calder and Tosh into the dark heart of a tight-lipped island community.
Series 10 launches on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm on Wednesday 5 November.
This time, the story begins with the discovery of an elderly woman’s body in the windswept hamlet of Lunniswick.
Eadie Tulloch, a retired social worker, has been dead for several days when her body is found exposed to the elements.
What at first appears to be an isolated tragedy soon reveals deeper tensions in the village.
Suspecting locals are hiding the truth about their relationships with Eadie, Calder and Tosh begin to unravel a knot of secrets, lies, and long-standing grudges.
For one member of the team, the case hits far too close to home.
As loyalties are tested, the cost of justice becomes more personal than ever.
Ashley Jensen returns as DI Ruth Calder, alongside Alison O’Donnell as DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh.
They’re joined once again by Steven Robertson as DC Sandy Wilson, Lewis Howden as Sgt Billy McCabe, and Anne Kidd as pathologist Cora McLean.
The new series also welcomes Samuel Anderson as Procurator Fiscal Matt Blake.
The guest cast is stacked with Scottish talent, including Clive Russell as Arthur Mair and Ellie Haddington as Lana Mair.
Other guest stars include Louise Brealey, Greg McHugh, Frances Gray, and Stuart Townsend as Eadie’s son, Ed Tulloch.
The series is made by Silverprint Pictures for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Shetland has built a loyal following over the years for its striking landscapes, strong performances and layered storytelling.
This latest chapter promises more of the same, with a fresh mystery, a complex community, and consequences that stretch well beyond the crime scene.
