Shinty Season Begins With Goals Across The Highlands

spot_imgspot_imgspot_imgspot_img

Shinty returned across the Highlands on the 7th of March 2026 as clubs began their league campaigns in competitions organised by the Camanachd Association.

The opening weekend delivered a mixture of dominant victories, tight contests and high scoring encounters as teams looked to establish early momentum across several divisions.

Fort William made a powerful start to the season with a four goal win over Caberfeidh while Newtonmore secured an impressive away victory at Oban Camanachd in one of the most notable matches in the Mowi Premiership.

Elsewhere there were dramatic scorelines throughout the leagues including Glenurquhart’s narrow 5 4 win over Glengarry and a six goal draw between Ballachulish and Glasgow Mid Argyll.
