Short, controlled traffic stoppages will take place on the A9 between Tomatin and Moy later this month as part of ongoing dualling works, with drivers warned to expect brief delays.

Transport Scotland has confirmed that temporary traffic signals will be used on 23 February and 01 March to allow the safe removal and replacement of overhead cables linked to the A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy project.

On Monday 23 February, traffic in both directions will be held for around 10 minutes between 10:00pm and 10:10pm, approximately 1 kilometre south of the temporary realignment at Lynebeg.

On Sunday 01 March, traffic will be stopped twice for separate 15 minute periods between 08:00am and 08:40am at the same location.

Each closure will be managed by manned red traffic signals, with normal traffic flow resuming as soon as each operation is safely completed.

Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained throughout.

The works are described as essential to protect both road users and the workforce during the overhead cable operations, though motorists are advised to allow additional time for journeys on the affected dates.

All timings remain weather dependent and may change at short notice.

The cable operations form part of the wider A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy scheme, one of the major sections in the long term programme to dual the route between Perth and Inverness.

Drivers can check the latest updates via the A9 Dualling project website before travelling.
