Scottish Celtic-Rock group Skerryvore have announced that they will be coming to Inverness this December!

LCC Live, organisers of Live in the City, will be bringing the band to the Inverness Leisure Centre on Friday 8th December, kicking off a weekend of live music ahead of the festive season.

Skerryvore has been on a momentous journey since the group was founded in 2005 on the westerly island of Tiree, from their early days in Scottish west coast halls and bars, to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe.

The end of 2022 saw the eight-piece trad group play to thousands at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow as part of ‘Hoolie at the Hydro’.

Which only catapulted their start in to 2023, with their new single You & I featuring on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music.

Their sixth studio album demonstrates the wide range of influences the individual musicians bring to the mix – a unique fusion of folk, trad, pop and rock.

Skerryvore’s latest studio album Tempus is due for release on April 28th 2023 and is already making waves in the UK music scene!

The first three single releases – You & ITogether Again and Everything You Need, have all been consecutively chosen to feature on the BBC Radio 2 ‘new music’ playlist.

To celebrate the release of the new album, Skerryvore are bringing the Tempus Tour to audiences across the UK, Europe and USA over the course of the year.

The group will be joined by special guest Cammy Barnes, who has had multiple singles reach the UK Top 20 chart and number 1’s on the Singer/Songwriter iTunes Chart, and more recently Country too.

This lead to various support slots with Brit Award artist Tom Walker, and selling out the prestigious King Tuts’ in Glasgow, Tunnels in Aberdeen and Mash House in Edinburgh.

Caitlin Brown of LCC Live commented:

“We couldn’t think of any better way to commence our festive weekend of live music than with the impeccable trad sounds of Skerryvore!

“The band have a busy year touring around the globe following their new album so it’s great to add Inverness on to that extensive list.”

“It’s going to be a great night with lots of singing and dancing, so we can’t wait!

“We hope to see a full venue with everyone just enjoying themselves and having a good time at the beginning of the festivities.”

Skerryvore themselves are looking forward to the show too, with Craig Elspie from the band saying:

“We couldn’t do an album tour without a trip to the Highlands!

“Inverness is up there with our favourite places to play in, and we’re really excited to perform at the Leisure Centre for the first time!

“Tempus has been a long time in the making and we can’t wait to start sharing the new music with audiences on the tour.”

Tickets for Skerryvore go on sale on Friday (24th March 2023) from ticketline.co.uk or in person from Caffery’s Menswear in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness.
