The Scottish Professional Football League has confirmed the full schedule for the 2025 to 2026 play offs, setting the stage for a decisive run of matches that will shape the league structure across Scottish football.
The play offs will begin on Tuesday 5 May and run through to late May, with nearly three weeks of fixtures determining promotion and relegation across the Premiership, Championship and League 1.
A total of 10 matches will be broadcast live across Sky Sports, BBC Scotland and BBC ALBA, ensuring fans across the country can follow every twist as clubs fight for their place.
The Premiership play offs will follow the now familiar format, with teams from the Championship battling through quarter finals and semi finals before facing the side that finishes 11th in the top flight.
The quarter finals will be shown live on BBC Scotland on 5 May and 8 May, followed by the semi finals on 12 May and 15 May.
The Premiership play off final will take place over two legs on 21 May and 25 May, both kicking off at 8pm and broadcast live on Sky Sports.
There remains a contingency in place should a club reach both the Scottish Cup final and the play off final, with alternative dates set for 26 May and 29 May.
The Championship play offs will also begin on 5 May, with semi finals followed by a two leg final on 13 May and 16 May, both of which will be shown live on BBC ALBA.
At League 1 level, the play off semi finals take place on 5 May and 9 May, with the final scheduled for 12 May and 15 May, again broadcast live on BBC ALBA.
SPFL Chief Operating Officer Calum Beattie said the play offs remain one of the most exciting parts of the football calendar.
“There is still a lot of football to be played before the end of the regular season but we are pleased to be able to confirm the full list of dates and broadcast selections for the eagerly anticipated play offs.
“The Premiership play offs have been an exciting and integral part of the calendar since the SPFL was established in 2013 while the Championship and League 1 play offs have now been running for 20 years.”
As ever, the margins will be fine, with ties decided over two legs and, if needed, extra time and penalties.
For clubs across Scotland, the play offs are where seasons are defined, where promotion dreams are realised or lost, and where pressure reaches its peak.
