The Highland Council and local partners have been successful is securing grant funding under the Scottish Governments Strategic Timber Transport Scheme for repair works to be carried out along the U1992 Evanton to Swordale road.

This will allow structural repairs to take place which will allow the current weight restriction to be lifted and allow timber extraction to resume.

The successful contractor is D&I Bain Ltd (Tore) who will be on site the week beginning Monday 4 July, for up to 6 six weeks.

The works involve drainage improvements, major patching works and overlay, with the Councils own workforce carrying out a significant length of surface dressing in late July.

Much of the works will be on the single track sections of the route so delays and inconvenience will be inevitable, but the Contractor will endeavour to keep any delays to a minimum.

The Council would like to thank residents for their patience and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
