The spoken word tent at Belladrum is back with a bang and this year’s Verb Garden promises to be its most inspiring yet.
Running from 31 July to 2 August, the Verb Garden will once again offer a space for reflection, performance and lively discussion in the heart of one of Scotland’s most beloved summer festivals.
Among the standout moments for 2025 is a special appearance by Stuart Murdoch, frontman of Glasgow indie favourites Belle & Sebastian.
He’ll be reading from his acclaimed novel Nobody’s Empire and performing a selection of songs in an intimate Saturday afternoon set.

Also stepping into the spotlight are chart-topping folk-rockers Tide Lines, who will take part in the popular Up Close and Personal series for a live conversation with fans.
This year’s line-up celebrates a wide mix of voices, with poetry, discussion, and creative sessions happening throughout the weekend.
The much-loved Saturday Slam returns, a fast-paced poetry competition that has become a festival tradition and a launchpad for new talent.
Another highlight is a public discussion on the Cromarty Green Freeport, giving festival-goers the chance to learn more about its aims around fair employment, renewable energy and local economic growth.
JJ Bull, the viral loopstation artist known for his genre-bending live performances, also joins the bill, alongside children’s author Maura McRobbie, who will lead a playful storytelling session for families.
Daily mindfulness and poetry workshops will offer festival-goers a moment of calm and creativity between headline acts.
Scottish Women’s Football will host a panel on the rise of the women’s game, with league players and CEO Aileen Campbell discussing its growing impact across communities in Scotland.

Belladrum’s close ties to Highland creativity continue through its long-standing partnership with Moniack Mhor, Scotland’s national writing centre.
They’ll be presenting a special writer development programme this year, including a songwriting workshop with Boo Hewerdine and Michelle Stodart of The Magic Numbers, as well as a live showcase to celebrate the power of music and storytelling.
Festival producer Dougie Brown said the Verb Garden continues to be a much-loved space for connection.
“We are delighted to unveil this year’s programme,” he said.
“It’s packed full of interesting conversations, incredible performances and gives people the chance to enjoy a change of pace, all part of what makes Bella so special.”
The full Verb Garden schedule is now available via Belladrum’s website and social channels.
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place on the Belladrum Estate near Inverness and welcomes more than 25,000 visitors each year.
