Eastgate Shopping Centre is welcoming the return of events by offering a free and fun-filled programme throughout the school holidays that is perfect for green-fingered children.

Starting on 30th June, there will be a Centre trail or workshop taking place every Wednesday between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.

The focus will be on being more environmentally friendly, whether that be at home, at school, by the river or walking in the woods!

On Wednesday 30th June, little shoppers can head down to Kids Club HQ to collect a creepy-crawly themed trail sheet.

With the help of their grown-ups, it’s now time to find the beasties hiding in shop windows around the Centre.

A delicious treat will then be waiting back at HQ!

Creative and caring, our bumblebee houses are the perfect addition to any garden!

Bring your little ones down to the Kids Club on Wednesday 7th July and they will be able to design and decorate their own bumblebee house!

Delighted with their work, they will be able to take it home and start welcoming all the beautiful bees into their garden.

It just wouldn’t be summer without the lovely sight of flowers in full bloom!

That’s why we will be encouraging our green-fingered gang to get potting and planting with our plant pot decorating workshop on Wednesday 14th July.

Don’t worry, they are terracotta – no plastic pots in sight!

If you go down to the woods today, you are in for a big surprise!

Youngsters can visit Kids Club HQ on Wednesday 21st July to collect a Woodland themed trail sheet.

With the help of their parents, grandparents, or carers, it’s now time to find the hidden clues throughout the Centre before returning to HQ for a tasty treat!

On Wednesday 28th July, our nature explorers will be tasked with making their own magnifying glass!

Whether your child fancies themselves as a bit of a plant detective, or they just enjoy roaming around the garden studying critters; everyone needs one of these in their kit for summer!

Growing your own fruit and vegetables is a great way to be kind to nature, eat healthily and reduce our impact on the environment.

Bring your little ones along on Wednesday 4th August and with our handy DIY plant markers, they’ll never mix up parsnips and carrots again!

On Wednesday 11th August, we will be learning about growing our own food!

Little shoppers, with parental supervision, will be sent around the Centre to find hidden fruit and veggies!

Once they have all been found, a scrumptious treat for the youngsters will be waiting back at Kids Club HQ.

Kirstin Gault, Digital and Marketing Executive, said:

“In line with Government guidance, and with extra safety measures in place, we are so excited to welcome back family-friendly events at the Centre!”

She added:

“With a focus on being more environmentally friendly, families attending the Summer Kids Club will be greeted by a dynamic duo of Kids Club crew – they will be ready and waiting to amuse, educate and spark the imagination of youngsters!”

The Centre Trails are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with advanced tickets available for the workshops.

Tickets will be available up until 24 hours before the start of each workshop.

Workshops walk-ins are welcome if the session is not at maximum capacity.

A total of six children and 12 adults (no more than two adults per family group) can attend each workshop session.

Each workshop has nine 20-minute sessions to choose from.

Due to Coronavirus restrictions, all activities are family/carer-led and parental supervision is required at all times.

Kids Club HQ will be located inside the Eastgate Community Gallery, which can be found in the Upper Mall (Level 4), adjacent to Next.
