Supporting The Next Generation of Business Talent is an Economic Priority

Deputy First Minister and Economy Secretary Kate Forbes will announce a package of support for start-up high-growth businesses today (Monday 20th May).

It will be aimed at enhancing end-to-end support for the country’s entrepreneurs and fledgling companies.

Speaking ahead of a visit to the National Robotarium, the UK’s centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, the Deputy First Minister reiterated the Scottish Government’s commitment to helping foster up-and-coming business talent, and breaking down barriers to people starting or developing their own business.

The Deputy First Minister said:

“Supporting business founders is critical for a vibrant, dynamic and growing economy.

“By empowering start-ups, we are creating a strong, successful economy built on entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable growth.

“Backing the rise of a new generation of Scottish firms will generate new wealth as they export their products and services across the world.

“It’s an approach that will define our economic future by a powerful blend of international capital and Scottish invention.

“My clear message to investors is that Scotland is open for business.

“Our entrepreneurs have the talent, ideas and creativity to develop and expand hugely successfully businesses, and the Scottish Government stands squarely behind the start-up community, and will continue to help them succeed.”
