A treasured whisky has returned, and it carries the chime of history in every drop.

To mark 166 years since Big Ben first rang out across Westminster, Murray McDavid has re-released The Elizabeth Tower, a 35-year-old single grain whisky that celebrates one of Britain’s most enduring landmarks.

This elegant dram was first unveiled in 2022 to commemorate the completion of restoration work on the Elizabeth Tower, home to the world-famous Great Bell.

Now, just in time for the tower’s anniversary on 11 July, it returns in a limited release that honours tradition, craft and heritage.

Only 334 bottles have been made available, a number chosen to mirror the 334 steps that wind their way up to the tower’s belfry.

Distilled at the historic Cameronbridge Distillery in 1987 and matured for more than three decades in a single American oak hogshead, the whisky has developed a rich and refined character.

Notes of sweet caramel, silky butterscotch and soft milk chocolate make for a profile that is as graceful as the architecture it celebrates.

The whisky was selected from Murray McDavid’s Victorian warehouses in Speyside, where traditional maturation techniques still shape every cask with care and patience.

Dean Jode, Head of Whisky Creations at Murray McDavid, said the whisky was the natural choice to honour such a landmark.

It is no surprise that the tasting panel selected this wonderfully elegant single grain whisky to commemorate the restoration of such an important landmark, he said.

It is a very proud moment for the Murray McDavid team to be associated with such an historically significant project.

The release is a collaboration between Murray McDavid and the House of Commons, and the whisky is now available for purchase through the official Parliament shop.

With just 334 bottles available, each one becomes more than just a drink, it becomes a piece of history.

As anniversaries go, this one is more than symbolic.

Big Ben is not simply a bell, but a national heartbeat, a sound stitched into the lives of millions, and this whisky offers a quiet toast to the years it has marked.

For collectors, whisky lovers and admirers of British history, The Elizabeth Tower is a rare chance to own something timeless, distilled from spirit, shaped by time and sealed with meaning.

It is history you can hold in your hand.

Available now at shop.parliament.uk, this commemorative release is a must-have for whisky lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
