Thieves Steal Alcohol Worth Tens of Thousands From House of Bruar

Police are hunting two masked suspects following a break in at the House of Bruar near Blair Atholl, where alcohol worth a five figure sum was stolen in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 2am on 27 October 2026 at the well known Highland retail destination beside the A9 in Perthshire.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a substantial quantity of alcohol was taken, with the total value estimated to be at least £10,000.

Officers attended the premises following the incident and have been carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and identify those responsible.

Detectives have released descriptions of two suspects believed to have been involved in the break in.

The first was wearing a black jacket, black balaclava, blue denim jeans, white shoes and gloves.

The second was dressed in a white jumper, black trousers, hiking style boots, a black balaclava and gloves.

Investigators are particularly interested in the movements of vehicles around the House of Bruar shortly after 2am.

Evidence gathered so far suggests the suspects left the premises at approximately 2.05am, just minutes after the break in.

Police are now asking motorists who were travelling in the area at that time to check whether their dashcam footage captured anything that could assist the investigation.

Detective Constable Mark Chance said:

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and has any information to come forward and speak to officers.

“We are also particularly keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area around 2.05am as from enquiries carried out so far, this is when the suspects are believed to have left the scene.

“If you have dash-cam footage from the area around that time, we’d ask you to review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”

The House of Bruar is a familiar stop for motorists travelling along the A9 between Perth and Inverness, attracting visitors from across Scotland and beyond.

Known for its country clothing, food halls and specialist retail departments, the business is situated close to one of the Highlands’ principal road connections.

The timing of the incident means officers are keen to establish whether passing drivers or anyone nearby noticed unusual activity in the area.

Police have not released details of the type of alcohol stolen, how entry was gained or whether a vehicle was used by the suspects.

No arrests have been announced, and enquiries were continuing at the premises when Police Scotland issued its appeal.

Anyone who was in the area around 2am on Tuesday, particularly motorists with dashcam footage from approximately 2.05am, is encouraged to contact officers.

Information can be passed to Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0234 of 27 October 2026.

Alternatively, anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
