HITRANS, the strategic transport partnership for the Highlands and Islands, has picked up a third award for its pioneering project to improve accessibility to transport services for residents and visitors in and around the Highlands and Islands.

The latest accolade for the GO-HI Maas (Mobility as a Service) Project is the Shared Mobility Award presented at the annual City Transport and Traffic Innovation (CiTTi) Awards Ceremony held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 21 November.

The category was open to local authorities, transport operators and partnerships in the United Kingdom leveraging technology and innovation to manage multiple forms of transport in more efficient, resilient and sustainable ways and encouraging the take-up of greener transport modes.

Judges commended HITRANS, working in Partnership with FOD Mobility Ltd, for creating a “hugely impressive” app for helping the travelling public “in a landscape of fragmented and sparse public transport services”.

HITRANS Partnership Director, Ranald Robertson, said:

“We are absolutely delighted that our ground-breaking app is being so widely recognised for the value it is providing to the travelling public in the Highlands and Islands.

“The technology is helping Scotland to become an international leader in smart mobility by supporting digital innovation and offering good practice in the application of MaaS for other similar regions.”

Go-Hi has also been recognised at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) Highlands and Islands Business Excellence Awards in Inverness, winning the Highlands and Islands Enterprise Award for Excellence in Innovation and was judged to be the Most Innovative Transport Project of the Year at the annual Scottish Transport Awards in Glasgow.

With funding from the Scottish Government’s MaaS Investment Fund, the GO-HI app has been developed to integrate multiple transport and travel options into a single technology platform, providing journey planning capabilities, easy access to travel information, more reliable journey planning, in-app ticketing, hotel booking and a hassle-free payment system.

It allows users to plan, book and pay for an end-to-end, multimodal journey within one application using their smartphone or desktop devices.

The platform offers instant access to buses, trains, ferries, HI Bike e-bikes, taxis, car clubs, car rental, folding bikes, flights and hotels to allow users to plan bespoke door-to-door journeys with ease.
