Leading haulier and distributor M&H Carriers has been named one of the top 50 fastest growing businesses in Scotland.

M&H Carriers — which has depots in Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Argyll — has been placed at #35 on the prestigious Fast Growth 50 Index in Scotland, showcasing its dedication to sustained growth and development.

As a result, the firm has been shortlisted for the Resilience Excellence Award and as Sustainable Practices Champion at the inaugural Scotland Fast Growth 50 Awards in 2024.

This latter nomination echoes M&H Carriers’ recent win at the Motor Transport Scottish Rewards, where it scooped the Scottish Environmental Haulier of the Year title for its industry-leading introduction of electric vehicles to its last-mile fleet in the Highlands.

The accolades, explained managing director Fraser MacLean, come at the end of a busy year for the business.

He said:

“2023 has been a successful year for M&H Carriers for many reasons — not least our peak festive season, which consistently saw over 15,000 items a day travelling through our network.

“M&H Carriers has always been a family business, so receiving accolades like these is a testament to our team and the way they pull together for our customers.

“Three hundred drivers, warehouse operators, administrators and executives work hard each and every day to ensure our customers — and their customers — receive an exemplary delivery service.”

In September, M&H Carriers signed a mutually beneficial deal with DHL International at its Argyll and Inverness depots, following a significant increase in national deliveries with DX following the collapse of a competitor.

Fraser said:

“Our partnerships with Pallet Track, DX, DPD and DHL International mean that we have a significant suite of delivery options to offer our customers.

“Feedback from DHL International on our new service has been excellent, and I am very proud of the way our team has integrated these new deliveries within our business.

“We are always looking for new ways in which to improve our service for customers, offering them greater value for money and access to a wider range of delivery options.”

The firm has also introduced new parcel collection points in Inverness and Elgin, enabling online buyers and sellers to make use of platforms like Vinted and Etsy.

This initiative is set to support a growing number of parcels coming into and out of the Highlands.

Fraser added:

“Online shopping grew significantly in 2020 and 2021 for obvious reasons, but the level of deliveries required hasn’t dropped since.

“Now, resale is also a huge market for those looking to supplement their income, and we’re delighted to be able to support people in Inverness who are embracing this new form of business.

“We have always championed SMEs and entrepreneurs, and this is another way of honouring that commitment.”

M&H Carriers is one of Scotland’s leading distributors and hauliers, delivering parcels, freight, pallets and two-man products across the country.

Working with businesses, private individuals and commercial multicarrier networks like DPD, DHL, DX and Pallet Track, the firm is dedicated to supporting SMEs and providing all with affordable, reliable distribution services.

M&H Carriers’ delivery hubs are in Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Argyll – with satellite depots in Uist, Stornoway, Thurso, Helmsdale, Muir of Ord, Kyle of Lochalsh, Fort William, Oban, Tarbert and Elgin.
