Loch Duart’s new range of smoked salmon has been crowned Fish and Seafood Product of the Year at the prestigious Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.

The award, sponsored by Seafood Scotland, was announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on 4 September, hosted by broadcaster Kirsty Wark.

Just months after launching the product, the Sutherland-based salmon farm won over judges with its ‘Signature Smoke’ and ‘Double Smoked’ varieties, praised for both taste and presentation.

Loch Duart’s smoked salmon beat three other shortlisted contenders in the category.

Managing Director Mark Warrington said the win reflected the care and quality behind the new range.

“We are very proud of our new smoked salmon, which was launched earlier this year and is already a favourite with top chefs and restaurants around the world,” he said.

“At Loch Duart we’ve always strived to raise the very best, premium, heritage breed Scottish salmon.

“We took particular care in creating a smoked product that highlighted the natural eating qualities of our fish that people already loved.”

He also paid tribute to others across the industry.

“I’d like to congratulate all the finalists in this year’s awards,” he said.

“It’s a real honour to be part of the Scottish food and drink sector, which is valued and sought out by food lovers across the globe for its quality, taste and provenance.”

Loch Duart salmon are bred from wild stock originating in North West Scotland.

Their feed contains high levels of marine content and is over 50% more carbon-friendly than standard farmed salmon diets.

This commitment to sustainability, taste, and traceability is key to the brand’s appeal both at home and internationally.

Loch Duart Smoked Salmon is available online and to trade buyers in two formats, 100g retail packs and full sides weighing 1–1.5kg.
