A town is gearing up to tickle the taste buds of locals and visitors alike when it hosts a three-day food and drink festival.

Taste of Nairn will take place in the seaside town for a fifth year from Friday May 9 to Sunday, May 11 and will boast live food demonstrations, tasters, competitions and different events taking place across the town.

Nairn BID is the organisation behind the gastronomical gala and it puts on the core event on the Saturday which as well as the demos and tasters, incorporates two markets, the World Tattie Scone Championships and the Showstopper Cake Contest.

As well as that, there will be the opportunity for visitors to take part in the omelette challenge, put their noses to the test with a guess the ingredient task and kids can decorate a cake and do a DIY kebab.

Lucy Harding, manager of Nairn BID said:

“We are excited that Taste of Nairn is back and the programme is definitely something that you can get your teeth stuck into.

“We have so many interactive events which are a lot of fun and we are delighted the town’s businesses are getting involved by staging their own events or taking part in either of the two markets by spilling out into the street or creating special Taste of Nairn offers.”

The audience for Taste of Nairn, which is supported by title sponsor the Golf View Hotel and Spa, has been growing each year and last year the event attracted over 10,000 people to the town, over the course of the weekend.

The Golf View Hotel and Spa is also getting involved with head chef Mick Buchan doing two of the six food demonstrations at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre on the Saturday and the hotel staging its own event on the Sunday.

Carolyn Carrington from the Golf View Hotel & Spa said:

“We are delighted to be involved with Taste of Nairn, celebrating the incredible local produce and rich culinary history of the town.

“We are even more delighted to be taking part and getting involved.

“Mick, our head chef will be whipping up a storm with his demos on the Saturday, we will also have a stand at the community centre where people can find out more about the hotel and its fantastic food offerings and events and as if that wasn’t enough, on the Sunday, we will be showcasing our Coast Spa which will be open to the public to enjoy taster products and treatments, herbal teas, receive goody bags, and tours of the facilities.”

Carolyn added:

“Taste of Nairn is a fantastic celebration of the incredible local produce and rich culinary history of the town.

“The event is a great opportunity to highlight the craftsmanship that makes Nairn’s food scene so varied and a chance to sample delicious cuisine.”
