Drivers using the A9 between Tomatin and Moy are being urged to plan ahead as major changes to traffic management come into force next week.

From Wednesday 7 August, overnight works will see temporary traffic lights and a convoy system introduced at Lynebeg and around the B9154 junction to Moy.

The restrictions will run from 7.30pm until 6am, Monday to Saturday, for around two weeks.

No work will take place on Sunday nights, but delays are still expected and drivers are being asked to allow extra time for their journeys.

The first phase begins at Lynebeg on 7 August, with lights in place for about a week as teams prepare to realign the road.

From Monday 11 August, lights will also appear at the B9154 junction to Moy while work continues to divert the National Cycle Network route during the dualling project.

A temporary 30mph speed limit will apply and convoys will guide vehicles safely through the works.

The biggest change arrives on Thursday 15 August, when both lanes of the A9 will shift onto a new alignment at Lynebeg.

This move allows construction of a new underpass and is expected to remain in place until the project is complete in autumn 2027.

The existing access to Lynebeg will close the same day.

A new junction for local residents will open slightly further north and will be clearly signposted.

Walking and cycling routes will also be diverted, with full details available on the A9 Dualling website.

Transport officials are urging everyone to approach with care, check live updates and prepare for longer journey times as the works progress.

Plans remain weather dependent and subject to change, with the latest information available via Traffic Scotland.
