Tributes Paid to Man Who Died in Shetland Crash

A man who died following a road collision in Shetland has been named as Victor James Duncan, 51, from the local area.

Emergency services were called to the incident around 10pm on Saturday 21 March 2026 on the B9074 at Trondra.

The crash involved a black Ford Ranger and a cyclist, with Mr Duncan taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened at around 5.15pm on Sunday 22 March.

Sergeant Ewan Calder said:

“My thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Duncan and we continue to offer support to them.

“I’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while enquiries were carried out.

“We appreciate this is the main route to and from the south west of the island and there was significant disruption with the closure.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and I’d ask anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, to come forward.”

Police enquiries into the incident are continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3319 of 21 March.
