Two Arrested Following Break ins and Vehicle Thefts in Keith

Two males have been arrested and charged following a series of reported break ins and vehicle thefts in Keith, Moray.

Police Scotland confirmed that the arrests followed incidents reported between Friday 16 October and Sunday 19 October 2026, involving premises and vehicles at several locations around the town.

Officers received reports of thefts of vehicles and break ins at properties on Mid Street, Balloch Road and Chapel Street.

A 17 year old male was arrested and charged in connection with the incidents and appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court on Wednesday 21 October.

A second male, aged 23, was also arrested and charged and is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday 22 October.

Police have thanked residents and businesses in Keith for helping officers with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Harvey Freeman said:

“I’d like to thank the local community for their support and information during our enquiries.

“Thefts from businesses and community facilities is not a victimless crime.

“There is a financial cost and implications for those who use their services.”

The incidents involved several streets within Keith, with police highlighting the wider impact that theft and damage can have on businesses and community facilities.

For smaller communities, the consequences of such offences can extend beyond the immediate financial losses, particularly when organisations face disruption to services used by local residents.

Police Scotland has not provided further details about the vehicles involved, the premises targeted or the value of property reported stolen.

The arrests follow enquiries into the reported incidents, with both males now facing court proceedings.

No further information about the outcome of those proceedings has been confirmed in the police statement.
