Two men have been charged following the death of a man after an incident on Balloan Road in Inverness on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the area at around 8.25am on the 9th of January after reports that three men had been injured outside a property.

Two of the men were taken to hospital by ambulance, while the third made his own way to receive treatment.

One man was pronounced dead after arriving at hospital.

The two other men, aged 21 and 38, were treated for minor injuries and later discharged.

Both men have now been charged in connection with the death and are expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.

Balloan Road has since reopened, although a continued police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue.

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“Officers continue to carry out extensive enquiries at this time so there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

“We understand this will be a concerning incident for the local community and would encourage anyone with concerns to approach local officers or call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0632 of 9 January 2025.”

The incident has left a normally quiet residential part of Inverness dealing with the sudden loss of life, as neighbours come to terms with events that unfolded close to home.
