The MV Corran’s support vessel the Maid of Glencoul’s annual refit has been rescheduled, she will now be tugged to Bute the middle of this week, with her return to Ardgour currently expected to be around the end of May 2024.

Economy and Infrastructure Committee Chair, Cllr Ken Gowans said:

“Due to delays relating to the availability of a tug vessel and boat yard availability, the Maid of Glencoul’s refit has been rescheduled by a few weeks.

“Repairs to the Maid’s steering were undertaken, however further modifications requiring component manufacture are necessary and we are working continuously with the steering system supplier to achieve completion of this as soon as possible.

“The steering system work continues to take place simultaneously to the planned refit work; it remains a priority to have the Maid of Glencoul back in operation as soon as possible as a support vessel for the MV Corran.”

The Highland Council will provide further details for the return of the Maid of Glencoul once a definitive programme for her return to service can be confirmed.
