Highland Opportunity Investments Limited has provided loan support to JS Seafood to acquire and develop an established seafood delivery business serving Skye and Lochalsh, with the deal announced on 25 February 2026.
The funding enables continuity for a long running delivery route across the West Highlands, supplying premium Scottish seafood to local households, wholesale customers and restaurants.
JS Seafood, operated by Juan Santos from Kyle, approached HOIL to purchase the existing business and build on its strong customer base and trusted route.
The investment secures ongoing access to fresh seafood for communities across Skye and Lochalsh while laying the groundwork for future expansion.
Juan brings years of experience in the seafood sector along with established supplier relationships, and is now running the operation as a sole trader focused on quality and reliability.
Short term plans include the development of a website and mobile app that will allow customers to place, schedule and repeat orders more easily.
The aim is simple.
Make good seafood easier to order while keeping the personal touch that has made the route successful.
Chair of HOIL, Councillor Jackie Hendry, said:
“I am delighted that we are able to help JS Seafood take on an established seafood delivery service in the West Highlands.
“With the loan provided Juan Santos can now continue with the familiar route and provide a wonderful seafood delivery service in that area, having had many years’ experience in the seafood industry under his belt. We wish him every success with his new venture.”
Juan Santos said:
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the HOIL team for their unwavering support throughout this process.
“I am thrilled to take on this established seafood delivery service, which allows me to continue providing our communities with the highest quality Scottish seafood.
“This acquisition represents not just a business opportunity but a commitment to enhancing local access to fresh sustainable products.
“With plans to implement new digital platforms, I aim to streamline the ordering process and strengthen customer relationships, ensuring that our valued clients can enjoy premium seafood with ease and convenience.”
Councillor Hendry added:
“The Opportunity Fund from HOIL provides accessible and affordable finance for start ups and growing businesses across the Highlands and is one of several funds we can use to help projects across the area.”
HOIL, the Highland Council’s business loan company, provides tailored financial support to businesses and community organisations across the region.
For coastal communities where local supply chains matter and fresh produce is part of daily life, keeping a trusted seafood route on the road is more than a commercial decision.
It is part of sustaining local food culture in the West Highlands.
