A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery of illegal drugs following a targeted police operation in Moray.

The 32-year-old was detained after officers executed a search warrant at a residential property on Califer Road, Forres, on Wednesday 17 September 2025.

The operation, led by officers from the CID Proactive Unit, was carried out in response to intelligence received from the local community.

Inside the property, police recovered a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs, understood to be cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of around £5,000.

A three-figure sum of cash was also seized during the search, believed to be linked to the supply of controlled substances.

The woman was arrested at the scene and has since been formally charged in connection with drug-related offences.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, and she is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court in due course.

Police have not yet confirmed whether further arrests are expected, but enquiries remain ongoing.

The seizure is part of a continued effort by Police Scotland to disrupt the supply of drugs across rural and urban areas of the Highlands and Moray.

Detective Constable Abbey Emmett of the CID Proactive Unit praised the role of local residents in helping build the intelligence that led to the warrant being executed.

“Information from the public is vital to keep our communities safe,” she said.

“This recovery was made possible by local people speaking up, and I would encourage anyone who has concerns about drugs-related activity to contact Police Scotland on 101.

“Alternatively, reports can be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The Highland and Islands Division has consistently highlighted the importance of community cooperation in tackling the supply of illegal substances, particularly in areas where drug activity is less visible but no less damaging.

Forres, like many towns across the region, has seen ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of illegal drugs, with police regularly appealing for information and working alongside local partners to identify those involved in supply and distribution.

The woman’s arrest is the latest in a series of enforcement actions across Moray, as part of a wider crackdown on drug crime during the autumn months.
