A 71 year old woman has died after being found injured on Strothers Lane in Inverness on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called at around 3.40pm on 2 September, with police saying the death is being treated as unexplained although there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Police initially closed Strothers Lane after receiving a report of an injured person and asked members of the public to avoid the area while emergency services attended.

Officers later confirmed that the person was a 71 year old woman.

Despite the attendance of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said the woman’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.

However, officers have said there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Strothers Lane was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but has since reopened.
