Workers in the UK are facing the highest inflation for 30 years, rampant energy prices with worse to come, and stagnant wages, says GMB Union

GMB Union has respond to a report showing consumer confidence dropping significantly in January.

GfK’s long-running Consumer Confidence Index dropped as shoppers indicated they are preparing to tighten their belts in the face of a cost of living crisis.

Gary Smith, GMB General Secretary, said:

“Workers in the UK are facing the highest inflation for 30 years, rampant energy prices with worse to come, and stagnant wages.

“It’s no wonder consumer confidence is at rock bottom.

“People are being squeezed to the point they can’t take any more and that’s why GMB members across the UK are taking on bosses and winning the big pay rises they deserve.

“Employers are being put on notice: workers want better and will take action to get it.”
