The project aims to enhance the paths and overall accessibility of the semi-wild open space, which is frequently used by locals for jogging, mountain biking, dog walking, and building camps.

Councillor Paul Oldham, Nairnshire Area Vice Chair, welcomed the improvements, highlighting the need for maintenance after years of neglect.

He noted that Kingsteps Quarry serves as an active travel route and is well known for its wild raspberries in late summer.

The work, which started today, Monday 17 February 2025, is expected to last around two weeks.

Lochloy residents and visitors can look forward to a tidier path network with overgrown bushes trimmed back to restore the paths to their original width.

This will improve access for all and ensure that Kingsteps Quarry remains a welcoming space for the community to enjoy.
