More than 100 young musicians from across Moray are preparing to take to the stage for one of the most uplifting events of the festive season.
The Moray Music Centre Winter Concert will take place at Elgin Academy on Saturday 6 December, bringing together junior and senior ensembles for an afternoon filled with classic Christmas favourites and community spirit.
The concert, which begins at 1.30pm, showcases the talent, commitment, and enthusiasm of local school-aged performers who have spent months perfecting their sound.
Principal Teacher of Music Instruction and Performance in Moray, Alexander Davidson, said the annual concert is the result of months of hard work.
“Our Winter Concerts are always very popular and what people perhaps don’t realise is just how much work goes into making them a success each year,” he said.
“Rehearsals started in August and have been running on Saturday mornings, the young people, staff and volunteers work incredibly hard to make this concert as fantastic as it is each year.”
Run by Moray Council’s Music Instruction and Performance team, the Moray Music Centre gives pupils from across the region the opportunity to perform as part of a regional ensemble, developing their musical skills and learning from one another along the way.
The event will feature more than 100 young musicians, including several of last year’s Moray Young Musicians entrants and finalists.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Kathleen Robertson, said the Winter Concert is always a special occasion.
“The Winter Concert is always a highlight of the festive calendar in Moray, and is a real showcase of the dedication and talent of our many young musicians,” she said.
Tickets are available now via the Moray Council Online Shop, with admission also payable at the door on the day.
The concert promises an afternoon of festive music and local pride, as Moray’s young performers share their passion and hard work with family, friends, and the wider community.
