Excitement is already building in Inverness as Eden Court gets ready to sprinkle some festive cheer with this year’s magical pantomime, Snow White.

And now, the stage lights are turning to young performers, as auditions open for talented local children to join the cast and bring the magic to life.

Children aged 9 to 15, from P5 to S4, are being invited to audition for two special roles in the show, the spirited Lost Bairns of Beauly and the Junior Ensemble.

Auditions will be held at Eden Court on Sunday 24 August.

Those hoping to land a part as one of the Lost Bairns will need to pre-register and learn a short script in advance.

These roles include a mix of speaking, singing and dancing, giving young performers a proper taste of panto magic.

For the Junior Ensemble, which is a dance-only role, no registration is required.

Simply arrive on the day at 9.30am with a completed form printed and ready to go.

The production is brought to life by Imagine Theatre, one of the UK’s most respected panto producers.

Steve Boden, Joint CEO of Imagine Theatre, says the search for young stars is one of the highlights of the company’s year.

He said it’s not just about technical skill.

They’re looking for spark, character and stage presence, the kind of magic that brings a smile to every face in the audience.

He added that many of the young people who’ve started out in the Junior Ensemble have gone on to train professionally and build careers in the arts.

But more than that, it’s about giving every child a chance to experience the wonder of live theatre from the best seat in the house, on stage.

Imagine Theatre remains one of the few national companies still committed to open auditions.

That means no agent, no experience, and no fancy background required.

Just talent, enthusiasm and a big dose of festive spirit.

Full audition information and application forms can be found at eden-court.co.uk or www.imaginetheatre.co.uk.

And if your wee one is more comfortable in the audience than on stage, tickets for Snow White are already on sale at Eden Court.

Whether it’s your first panto or your fiftieth, this year’s show promises to be packed with laughter, sparkle and plenty of Highland heart.
