A remarkable milestone has been celebrated at Pentland View Care Home as resident Marion Owen welcomed her 100th birthday surrounded by loved ones and fellow residents.
The centenarian’s special day was marked with the arrival of a congratulatory telegram from His Majesty The King, adding a touch of royal splendour to the festivities.
Marion’s journey through life began in Lancashire, where she grew up as the daughter of a local butcher, before developing her passions for travel and mountaineering that would shape her adventurous spirit.
Her connection to Caithness deepened after relocating with her husband, where she became a familiar, friendly face as receptionist for Doctor MacKay, touching many lives in the community through her work.
Now residing at Pentland View Care Home, Marion continues to embrace life with enthusiasm, actively participating in social activities and always ready for new experiences.
The birthday celebration took on an extra special dimension as Marion shared her milestone with fellow resident Reena Warren, who marked her own 90th birthday on the same day.
“Well, isn’t this something, I never expected to be this age, how lovely to have so many people here to visit!” Marion exclaimed during the afternoon party, which featured specially prepared refreshments by the home’s kitchen and activities staff.
The double celebration will continue with a second party planned for Sunday morning, bringing together staff and residents to honour both Marion and Reena’s remarkable achievements.
