Following the success of last year’s firework display that took place in the city, The Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group is pleased to announce that this year’s event will return to the Bught Park for the traditional bonfire and firework display.

The event will take place on Saturday 5th November with gates opening at 5pm and the firework display ending just before 7pm.

The Bonfire and Firework Display is one of a series of experiences by Highland Council’s Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group which is financially supported by the Inverness Common Good Fund.

The Provost of Inverness, Councillor Glynis Sinclair, Chair of the City of Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group said:

“The members of the working group are delighted to see the bonfire and firework display return to the city calendar.

“We really want to make this a family event, so following on from last year’s feedback, we have opted to start the display earlier than usual to make sure families with younger children are able to take part and not make it too late an evening.

“The Bonfire and Firework Display is the second of three events in our City of Inverness Events & Festivals Winter Programme for 2022, coming hot on the heels of ‘A Night at the BOOtanics’ taking place at Inverness Botanic Gardens.

“We are grateful that inclusive family events, such as these are made possible through the financial support of the Inverness Common Good Fund.”

Further details regarding parking and exact timings will be issued nearer the time.

However, those attending the event are asked to make plans to park in the city centre car parking locations and walk to the Bught area to see the Bonfire and Firework Display.

Last year’s event in the City was understood to be the only Local Authority run firework display in Scotland and was watched by many thousands of people from vantage points across the city in order to comply with the social-distancing guidelines in place at that time.

The City of Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group will announce details on its next event to take place in the city after the Bonfire and Firework Display.
