The Highland Council has announced dates for significant path improvements at Culloden Moor, aiming to enhance walking, wheeling, and cycling routes for the community.
Works will take place between Treetops Stables and Brookfield, providing a better-connected path network from Balloch and Viewhill to Brookfield and Sunnyside.
The first phase, which involves path preparation, is set to start on Monday 21 October and is expected to last until Saturday 26 October.
Following this, surfacing works will begin on Monday 28 October and will take approximately four days, concluding on Thursday 31 October.
During this period, both the path and the woodland car park will be closed to ensure public safety due to the use of heavy machinery and equipment.
A temporary 30 mph speed limit will be enforced along the C1028 and B9006 for the duration of the project.
Temporary traffic lights will also be in operation near Brookfield from Monday 21 October to Tuesday 22 October and again from Wednesday 30 October to Thursday 31 October.
Advance warning signs will be put up along the path and in the car park to notify the public of the closures and any disruptions.
The council aims to reopen sections of the path as soon as it’s safe for the public to use.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take note of these closures as the improvements are completed.
The Highland Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused but assures locals that the upgrades will be worth the wait, offering safer and smoother routes for all users.
