Direct flights between Inverness and Dublin are set to return from Thursday 21st of May 2026, restoring a long missed international link for passengers across the Highlands.

The route will be operated by Aer Lingus Regional and exclusively flown by Emerald Airlines, marking a new partnership for Inverness Airport.

Flights will run twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, strengthening business, leisure, and family connections between the Highlands and Ireland’s capital.

The service will offer a straightforward option for short breaks and work travel, while also opening up wider international connectivity through Dublin Airport.

Dublin remains a popular destination for Highland travellers, offering historic streets, cultural landmarks, a thriving music scene, and easy access to coastal and countryside locations beyond the city.

During the summer season, the new route has been timed to provide onward connections to Aer Lingus transatlantic services to New York and Boston.

Inverness Airport Manager Dan Mason said the return of the route would be welcomed by communities across the region.

“It is exciting to see the return of direct flights between Inverness and Dublin, restoring a route that has been missed by passengers across the Highlands and Islands.

“This service not only reconnects the region with Ireland’s capital but it also provides onward access to North America via Aer Lingus transatlantic flights, including New York and Boston, with convenient connection times through Dublin.

“Welcoming Aer Lingus to Inverness for the first time is a positive step for regional connectivity and passenger choice, and we are thrilled to work with the airline as the route launches and develops.”

Ian Lough, Head of Commercial at Emerald Airlines, said the airline expects strong demand for the service.

“We are delighted to be commencing this new connection to Dublin and have no doubt it will be a popular one.

“We look forward to working with our partners at Inverness Airport to ensure the success of this route.”

The announcement marks Inverness Airport’s first route with Aer Lingus and represents a further step in improving connectivity and travel choice for people living and working across the Highlands.
