ClubSport Shetland is recruiting eight young leaders aged between 14 and 23 to join a new panel to represent the voice of young people in sport and the local community.
Applications for the new ClubSport Shetland Young People’s Sports Panel (YPSP) will open on Monday 4th November.
Shetland Islands Council’s Sports Development Team and Scottish Clubsport have worked together, in partnership with Ability Shetland, Active Schools and SIC Youth Services, to identify gaps in the sporting community, and feel that more can be done to engage young leaders in decision making and projects locally.
Applications open from 9am on Monday 4th November till 5pm on Friday 29th November. Successful applicants will then be invited for interview.
More information on the panel, and links to the Smart Survey application form, can be found here – www.shetland.gov.uk/sport-leisure/sports-development-club-sport/2
Jack Clubb, SIC Sports Development Officer, says they’re delighted to launch the new panel:
“We know how much impact similar groups have had nationally, and how many opportunities they have created for young people in Scotland.
“We’re excited to be able to develop and support more young leaders in Shetland and to provide young people with a platform to be decision makers in local and national sport.”
Gary Grieve is Scottish ClubSport’s National Development Manager:
“We’re proud to support the creation of the very first ClubSport Shetland YPSP.
“Youth Leadership and Youth Voice is key to supporting local sport, and through this new partnership we are ensuring that the voice of young people is heard across club sport, locally and nationally.”
