Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 1st August 2026, with cup finals, league fixtures and another weekend of high scoring performances producing plenty of drama across the Highlands.
The headline story belonged to Glengarry, who lifted the Chieftain’s Cup after Raymond Robertson struck a dramatic 90th minute winner to secure a hard fought 1–0 victory over Lewis.
Lochside Rovers also celebrated cup success, defeating Kilmory 2–0 in the Bullough Cup Final thanks to goals from Jordan Kerr and Craig MacMillan.
In the Premiership, Kinlochshiel produced the standout performance of the weekend, sweeping aside Kyles Athletic 8–0.
Ali Nixon led the way with four goals, while David Falconer added two as Kinlochshiel produced one of the biggest top flight victories of the season.
Skye were equally impressive, defeating Lochaber 7–0 with Archie Millar, Dan MacDonald and Jordan Murchison all scoring twice in a dominant display.
Kingussie maintained their strong league form with a 4–1 victory over Col Glen, while Oban Camanachd edged one of the matches of the weekend, overcoming Fort William 4–3 in an entertaining contest.
Midweek action had already produced one of the season’s biggest scorelines, with Inveraray hammering Oban Celtic 11–1 in the National Division.
Ross Montgomery and Fraser Watt each scored hat tricks as Inveraray ran riot, while Bryce Griffin added a brace in an outstanding attacking performance.
National Division action continued on Saturday, with Beauly and Bute sharing an entertaining 3–3 draw, while Kilmallie claimed a convincing 4–1 victory away at Glasgow Mid Argyll.
Several fixtures were postponed, including Glenurquhart against Lovat, while Fort William and Kyles Athletic were both unable to field teams for North Division 1 and South Division 1 fixtures respectively, resulting in two point deductions and the matches being rescheduled.
South Division 2 delivered another eye catching scoreline as Bute swept aside Stirling 10–1, with Neil MacKirdy scoring a hat trick in an emphatic victory.
Women’s cup competitions also produced several dominant displays, with Kinlochshiel defeating Glasgow Mid Argyll 3–0 in the Valerie Fraser Cup, while Dunadd overcame Strathglass 9–0 and Aberdour defeated Glasgow Mid Argyll 10–0 in the Challenge Cup.
Badenoch rounded off another successful weekend with a 7–1 victory over Strathspey in the Women’s National League.
Across the competitions, silverware was decided, league positions tightened and the goals continued to flow as another memorable weekend of Highland shinty came to a close.
