Police are appealing for help to find 45 year old Hector Patemore after he failed to return from a planned walk in the Cuillin on the Isle of Skye.

Hector, who lives in Belgium, left the Youth Hostel in Glen Brittle at around 10.45am on Sunday 13 September intending to climb Sgurr Na Banachdich before descending through Coire Na Banachdich.

He did not return to his accommodation as expected and has not been in contact with his family.

Police were alerted and Hector was reported missing at around 10.25pm on Sunday.

Officers say Hector is an experienced hillwalker and the route he intended to follow is considered relatively straightforward.

Concern is now growing for his wellbeing and police are particularly keen to hear from other hillwalkers who were in the area on Sunday and may have seen him.

Hector is described as white, 6ft 4in tall and of slim build, with a shaved head and stubble.

When he was last seen he was wearing a red jacket, mustard hooded top and a hat, and is also believed to be carrying a rucksack.

Sergeant David Mockett said:

“Hector is an experienced hillwalker, and the route he planned to take is considered relatively straightforward.

“We are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and are appealing for anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak with any fellow hillwalkers who were in the area on Sunday, 13 Septembers, and may have seen Hector or know anything which could help pinpoint his location and route.”

Anyone who was walking around Sgurr Na Banachdich, Coire Na Banachdich or the surrounding Cuillin area on Sunday and believes they may have seen Hector is being urged to contact police.

Anyone with information that could help establish his movements or current whereabouts should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3692 of 13 September 2026.
