Highland Council Takes Invest Highland Vision to Major UK Investment Forum

The Highland Council is showcasing its Invest Highland programme this week at the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum 2026 in Leeds.

Council Leader Raymond Bremner is attending the national event alongside council officers and representatives from the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport.

The forum brings together councils, developers, investors and businesses from across the UK to promote investment, infrastructure and regeneration opportunities.

Highland Council is attending alongside partners from the Scottish Cities Alliance under the Team Scotland banner.

The council says the event provides an opportunity to promote the Highlands as a major destination for sustainable investment and economic growth.

At the centre of the council’s presentation is the Invest Highland prospectus which outlines opportunities across sectors including renewable energy, manufacturing, tourism, life sciences and data innovation.

The council says the Highlands currently has more than £40 billion in planned renewable energy investment alongside major infrastructure projects linked to the energy transition.

The Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport also forms a major part of the investment programme being promoted at the event.

More than 275 councils and public sector organisations from across the UK are attending this year’s forum.

Bremner said:

“UKREiiF provides an important platform for the Highlands to connect with investors and decision makers from across the UK and beyond.

“Through Invest Highland, we are clearly setting out the scale of opportunity our region offers from world leading renewable energy projects to innovation in key growth sectors.

“The Highlands is playing a vital role in the transition to a net zero economy, and we are ambitious about delivering sustainable growth that benefits our communities.

“We are here to build partnerships that will help us realise that potential.”

During the three day event, the council will hold meetings with investors, developers and strategic partners while also supporting discussions around housing investment and infrastructure.

The council says participation in UKREiiF forms part of wider efforts to position the Highlands as a globally competitive location for long term investment and green economic growth.
