The Highlands are about to experience a fitness revolution as HYROX arrives at three High Life Highland leisure centres this summer.
Inverness Leisure, Aviemore Community Centre and Lochaber Leisure Centre will be the first venues to roll out the internationally acclaimed HYROX training programme, offering a fresh and exciting challenge for gym-goers of all levels.
HYROX is billed as the ultimate fitness race, combining strength, endurance, agility and skill into one complete workout.
Unlike the competitive events it is known for, HYROX training classes focus on building everyday fitness, making the benefits of functional training accessible to everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned athletes.
Ross Dudgeon, Facilities Manager at Inverness Leisure, believes HYROX will bring something completely new to the Highland fitness scene.
“HYROX is the ultimate training in functional fitness,” said Ross.
“It is accessible, fun, engaging and challenging, and it helps people of any age or ability get into great shape.
“The beauty of HYROX lies in its simplicity and scalability.
“It combines eight different workouts with running, all within a carefully structured system.
“Whether you are just starting out or are already an elite athlete, you will find your place in HYROX.”
Ross added that Inverness Leisure will begin by offering four taster sessions per week in the Strength and Conditioning Room, with ambitious plans for expansion already in the pipeline.
“It is a fresh take on the traditional fitness class.
“HYROX turns fitness into a sport that anyone can enjoy.
“We are really excited to be bringing this to Inverness.
“There is a lot more to come, so watch this space.”
Graeme Ross, Head of Leisure at High Life Highland, echoed the excitement about the new addition to the timetable.
“The introduction of HYROX training to High Life Highland is a really exciting development for us,” said Graeme.
“We are confident that it will prove popular with our members and bring a new dynamic to our fitness offering.
“Once we have established the programme, we hope to introduce regular HYROX simulation events as well.
“It is a great new chapter for us.”
Plans are already being made to extend HYROX training to other High Life Highland sites, with Ross-shire next in line to join the growing movement in the coming months.
Booking for HYROX training classes opens on 16 June, with full details available directly from Inverness Leisure.
