Jamie Stone Calls on The Government to End Women’s State Pension Injustice

Liberal Democrat MP, Jamie Stone, has once again written to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions lending his support to the WAPSI (Women Against State Pension Injustice) campaigners.

The letter calls for immediate actions to redress the grievances of those affected.

Since the campaign started, about a quarter of a million of women will have died waiting for the pension compensation by the end of this year.

WASPI says the government has likely saved close to £3.8 billion on compensation from the women who have passed away.

The campaigners demand compensation of up to £20,000 from the DWP.

Mr Stone commented:

“These women must receive a just and fair payment that will place them on par with other pensioners.

“The government’s inadequacy should not affect their livelihoods.

“The WASPI issue is really something that should prick our collective issue and for the government to be slacking is unacceptable.

“It feels like that government is waiting these women out so that they can avoid coughing up, and that truly stinks.

“Rest assured, there are many of us in Parliament who are unwilling to drop this issue.

“I look forward to hearing what the Secretary of State has to say on the matter.”
