Kingussie booked their place in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final with a 4–1 victory over Skye as another busy weekend of shinty delivered cup drama and goals across the Highlands.
Savio Genini struck twice for Kingussie before late goals from Iain Fraser and Thomas Borthwick secured their passage to the final.
Skye had pulled the score back to 2–1 through Jordan Murchison in the 67th minute, but Kingussie finished strongly to put the tie beyond reach.
The Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup also reached the semi final stage, with Lochside Rovers and Kinlochshiel securing their places in the final.
Lochside Rovers produced an impressive 5–1 victory over Fort William, with Matt Rippon and Scott MacMillan both scoring twice before Duncan Hunt completed the scoring.
Kinlochshiel had a much tighter route to the final, with Liam Matheson’s 30th minute goal proving enough to secure a 1–0 victory over Kyles Athletic.
Midweek Premiership action had seen Oban Camanachd defeat Kyles Athletic 4–1, while Fort William recorded a 3–1 victory over Kinlochshiel on Friday night.
Saturday’s Premiership programme saw Col Glen and Newtonmore share a goalless draw, while Cameron Grant’s 65th minute goal gave Caberfeidh a 1–0 victory away at Lochaber.
The National Division produced another competitive afternoon, with Beauly and Inveraray drawing 2–2 and Kilmallie and Glenurquhart finishing goalless.
Lovat secured the points with a 3–1 victory away at Bute after goals from Marc MacLachlan, Graeme MacMillan and Lewis Tawse.
North Division 1 produced a notable result for Inverness, who came from behind to defeat Kingussie 2–1.
Torrin Dempster gave Kingussie an early lead, but Skye MacIntosh levelled before Daniel Kruger struck in the 69th minute to secure the victory for Inverness.
Strathglass also enjoyed a strong afternoon with a 4–0 victory over Glenurquhart, while the Skye and Newtonmore fixture was postponed because of an unplayable field.
Ardnamurchan secured a convincing 4–1 victory away at Inveraray in South Division 1, with Sean MacLellan and Alan Palmer both scoring twice.
North Division 2 delivered the biggest scorelines of the weekend, with both Lochaber and Lovat recording remarkable 10–0 victories.
Lochaber swept aside Boleskine as David Langan and Innes Whyte both scored hat tricks, while Lovat defeated Inverness with James MacPherson also grabbing a hat trick.
Lewis secured a 2–1 victory away at Aberdeen University, while the Strathglass and Lochcarron fixture will be rescheduled.
In South Division 2, Bute edged Uddingston 3–2, while Kilmory defeated Strachur Dunoon 4–1.
Women’s shinty also delivered plenty of goals, with Badenoch defeating Skye 7–1 in the Premier League and Kinlochshiel recording a 6–0 victory over Glasgow Mid Argyll.
Aberdour edged Badenoch 4–3 in the National League, while Dunadd secured a 7–2 victory over Strathspey.
Tayforth defeated Kilmallie 5–3 in the South League, Stirling overcame Uddingston 4–2 and Glasgow Mid Argyll recorded a 4–0 victory against Ardnamurchan.
With Kingussie heading for the Camanachd Cup Final and Lochside Rovers and Kinlochshiel preparing to contest the Sutherland Cup Final, the battle for silverware is gathering pace as the shinty season moves deeper into August.
