Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 13th June 2026, with cup finals, league fixtures and youth competitions delivering another busy weekend across the Highlands.
The headline story belonged to Kingussie, who lifted the W M Donald MacTavish Cup after a composed 2–0 victory over Newtonmore in the final.
After a closely contested opening hour, Savio Genini broke the deadlock on 69 minutes before Ruaridh Anderson sealed the victory late on to secure another major trophy for the Badenoch side.
The Macaulay Cup also produced plenty of action, with Skye progressing through the first round following a convincing 4–0 victory away at Lovat.
In the southern quarter final, Kyles Athletic edged Aberdour 2–1, while Oban Camanachd secured a comfortable 3–0 victory against Bute to reach the next stage.
The Chieftain’s Cup semi finals delivered goals at both ends of the Highlands, with Glengarry defeating Aberdeen University 5–3 thanks to a hat trick from Nick Dalgetty, while Lewis secured a 3–1 victory away at Lochcarron.
League action was limited by weather, with several fixtures postponed because of unplayable pitches, but there were still important results across the divisions.
In the National Division, Beauly came from behind to defeat Glasgow Mid Argyll 2–1, with Connor Ross grabbing the winner eight minutes from time.
South Division 1 produced one of the most emphatic performances of the weekend as Ardnamurchan swept aside Kyles Athletic 9–0.
Allan Palmer struck four times, while Michael Doherty added two as Ardnamurchan dominated from start to finish.
South Division 2 also produced goals in abundance, with Uddingston recording an impressive 8–1 victory away at Aberdour.
Women’s shinty delivered several notable scorelines, including Badenoch’s 12–0 victory over Inverness in the Valerie Fraser Cup quarter finals and Aberdour’s 9–0 win over Strathspey in the Challenge Cup.
Youth competitions again provided plenty of excitement, with Newtonmore defeating Skye 4–2 in the North of Scotland MacTavish Under 17 Trophy and then following up with a 6–1 victory over Kilmallie in the National Under 17 League.
Kinlochshiel Lochcarron also impressed with an 8–1 victory away at Glenurquhart in the National Under 17 League Section A.
With cup competitions reaching their decisive stages and league campaigns beginning to take shape, the shinty season continues to build momentum across every level of the game.
