Kinlochshiel Take Premiership Honours as Fort William Hit Eight

Kinlochshiel and Fort William recorded convincing victories on Saturday 31 October as the 2026 shinty season continued towards its conclusion, with unplayable pitches again disrupting the remaining fixtures.

In the Mowi Premiership, Kinlochshiel secured a 3–1 home victory over Skye, with Keith Macrae scoring all three goals for the hosts.

Macrae made an immediate impact, opening the scoring after just three minutes, although Skye responded quickly through Lachlann Macleod in the eighth minute.

The sides remained level until the second half, when Macrae struck again in the 60th minute before completing his hat trick nine minutes later to secure the points for Kinlochshiel.

There was an even more emphatic result in Mowi North Division 1, where Fort William defeated Kinlochshiel 8–0.

Graham Campbell and Jack Kearny both scored hat tricks, with Victor Smith and Angus Mackinnon also finding the net in a comprehensive victory for the home side.

The result provided another notable scoring performance for Campbell, who had previously scored all four goals in Fort William’s 4–1 victory over Kingussie earlier in October.

Elsewhere, the weather continued to cause problems for clubs attempting to complete their remaining fixtures.

Kyles Athletic’s Premiership meeting with Oban Camanachd was postponed because of an unplayable field, while Skye’s North Division 1 fixture against Newtonmore also fell victim to the conditions.

With only two matches completed across the divisions, it was a quiet weekend for the national game, although the two winning sides ensured there was still plenty of goalmouth action as the season edges towards its conclusion.
