Loganair has launched a new social video series celebrating Scotland’s islands, food and culture, starring acclaimed Scottish chef Tony Singh.
The YouTube series, Singh on a Wing, follows the airline’s brand ambassador as he travels across the country’s island communities, meeting local producers, foragers and craftspeople while exploring the connection between place, food and heritage.
The first episode takes Tony to the island of Islay, where the Inner Hebrides’ landscape, coastline and whisky traditions set the scene.
During the visit, Tony meets local ecologist and seaweed forager Fiona MacGillivray, who introduces him to hands on seaweed foraging along the shoreline, including native varieties such as nori and their culinary uses.
The journey continues at Port Ellen Maltings, offering a behind the scenes look at the heart of Islay’s whisky production, before moving on to Lagavulin Distillery for an immersive experience led by assistant experience and events manager Karen Robertson.
Crossing the bay, Tony smokes freshly hand dived scallops on the shore before returning to the distillery to bring the episode together with a signature dish of scallop escabeche with seaweed and Lagavulin butter on sourdough toast.
Director of marketing, communications and product at Loganair, Lyn MacDonald, said:
“Islay is an extraordinary destination, acclaimed worldwide for its iconic peated single malt Scotch whiskies, history and heritage, and wonderful wildlife.
“Its unique charm shines through in our first episode of Singh on a Wing, and we’re excited to highlight some of the incredible island communities served by Loganair throughout the rest of the series.”
Born and raised in Leith, Edinburgh, Tony is a third generation Scottish Sikh whose career spans restaurants, television and entrepreneurial ventures.
Known for blending Scottish and Asian flavours, he has long championed local produce and community led food culture.
Tony Singh MBE said:
“Filming Singh on a Wing has been an incredible experience.
“There’s nothing like seeing our beautiful coastline from the air.”
“Scotland has so much to offer and partnering with Loganair is an opportunity to celebrate our amazing food, culture and communities.”
Future episodes will see Tony travel to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, where he visits a local crofter and prepares a mutton dish alongside traditional stovies, with a third episode planned for Tiree.
The series forms part of Loganair’s wider partnership with Tony Singh MBE, supporting the airline’s focus on regional connectivity and island communities.
Loganair continues to expand its UK network, recently adding Jersey routes and opening its tenth regional base in Southampton, while being named the UK’s most punctual airline of 2025 by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The first episode of Singh on a Wing is now available via Loganair’s social channels, and can be viewed at:https://www.loganair.co.uk/singhonawing/islay/
