A man has admitted the murder of 32 year old Iain MacFarlane following his death at a property in Inverness last year.
Waldemar Jaronski, 52, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday 3 June 2026.
Emergency services were called to a property in Strathspey Place at around 8.30am on Thursday 4 December 2025.
Mr MacFarlane was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officers arrested Jaronski later that same day and he was subsequently charged in connection with the death.
The case has now concluded with the guilty plea entered before the High Court.
The death shocked the local community and led to a major police investigation in Inverness.
Detective Inspector Graham Gordon said:
“Iain’s family and friends have suffered an unimaginable loss and our thoughts remain with them as they continue to come to terms with his death.
“His death was a tragic and senseless loss of life, and the circumstances surrounding it make that loss all the more difficult to comprehend.
“While nothing can change what happened or ease the pain felt by those who knew and loved him, I hope this verdict provides them with some measure of justice.
“Jaronski has now been held accountable and will now face the consequences of his actions.”
Sentencing will take place at a later date.
For the family and friends of Iain MacFarlane, the guilty plea brings an end to the criminal proceedings, although the impact of his loss will continue to be felt by those who knew and loved him.
