A 46 year old man has died following a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A9 near Dunkeld.

Emergency services were called to the scene just south of Dunkeld at around 6am on Friday 31 July after reports of a collision involving a grey Audi A4 and a white Scania HGV.

The driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said his next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The A9 remained closed for much of the day while officers carried out investigations and the vehicles were recovered before the road reopened at around 6.30pm.

Road Policing officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or either vehicle before the collision, to come forward.

Sergeant David Farr said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to get in contact with officers.

“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
